Our story in 6 capsules

CAPSULE 1

A need for freedom and a passion for the outdoors that is not new .

Behind the company are two outdoor enthusiasts, Pierre and Chantal, who met in 1981. For the couple, any opportunity is a good one to get out and get some fresh air. Whether by bike or car, camping is always their favorite. On a professional level, Pierre was self-employed for a long time, and he had ideas. But he also had the audacity to develop them, and the flair to present them to the right people. To this day, several patents bear his name, his specialty being in movement mechanisms (medical chair, transport chair, ball chair and zero gravity mechanism). This journey led him to start innovative companies in Quebec. He focused on his specialty, until the day the idea of building a small RV germinated. But since it is never the simplest idea that prevails for Pierre, he wanted to do it from scratch. But really from scratch. That was the beginning of the adventure.

CAPSULE 2

Always camping, especially with family!

Even after the children arrived, summer vacations with Chantal's family and
Pierre, it was camping. The real thing, the one that is done in a "tent on the ground". We just had to find a bigger one. The choice of accommodation fell on a Eureka and it was amicably named "Big Kahuna". The car filled to the brim, rain or shine, the trips multiplied to Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI and Maine. A very beautiful and large playground, accessible without taking a plane. From then on, it was the search for beautiful spots to enjoy the landscapes, the mountains and the calm. Beautiful moments of great proximity, outdoors and relaxation with the family.

CAPSULE 3

A need for a little more space and comfort

It was during a trip to the Atlantic Coast that the reflection on the growing need for autonomy and comfort began. There was the small ultra-light aluminum trailer made by Pierre that gave us more space, but it was the Dodge camper borrowed from grandpa that clarified our preference. With the desire to have more freedom and ease for sleeping, and especially to cook, the choice finally fell on the Westfalia.

CAPSULE 4

After a few years in Westfalia

It was after a few years in Westfalia that the feeling of lack of space and comfort developed. It was at this point that the search for another camper option began. Not wanting too big or too small, the choice was
finally focused on the B-class type. The visits to "VR shows" and virtual searches are numerous, but nothing meets the very precise criteria of the two great travelers on wheels. This is when the great idea of building one from scratch, as mentioned in the first capsule, surfaces. But when we say zero... First, there was the drawing of the plans. Then, the purchase of a "pick-up" on which only the engine, transmission, differential will be kept, and subsequently, the manufacture of the shell, etc. This project is done in lost time between work contracts, so it progresses at a snail's pace. As life is short and at this rate, several years will be necessary to finalize the "BUS", the idea will be abandoned. We move on to something else. The Mercedes Sprinter makes its appearance. The truck will be quickly converted by Pierre, according to very precise needs and criteria, but in a very summary way.

CAPSULE 5

“Desperate times call for desperate measures”

After abandoning the idea of building the camper from scratch, finally comes
the final stage involving the Mercedes Sprinter. Then begin the multiple design stages. Pierre does it, Chantal critiques it and Pierre redoes it. And this will be repeated over 5 seasons, testing the different ideas. Finally, the ideal design arrives (very close to the one in production today) and with that, even more stays all over Quebec. It is during one of these trips, in Gaspésie, that we meet a nomadic couple. They have been living in their class B van for 5 years. Gilles Couët and Sophie Bérubé are great connoisseurs of the RV world and they have a big crush on our concept, which they say is completely unique. So much so that the following spring, they will bring us their very valuable Wennebago Era so that we can tear out everything inside to install our CosyRoad concept. It is with the encouragement of this seasoned businessman (co-founder of Chlorophyle) that we will start the production. After all, if the product makes us happy, others will be too when driving a CosyRoad. The biggest step towards the company's success has just been taken. Next capsule: Let's get started! The workshop - production.

CAPSULE 6
Let's get started: The workshop, production and the team.
Since 2017, we have been well established in a workshop on rue Sherbrooke, in Magog. Now that we have exactly what we were looking for in terms of layout, the work focuses mainly on improving the quality of finish and research, in order to have the greatest possible autonomy. In terms of the team, it is now made up of Steven, production manager, and Vanessa, administration manager. In recent days, we have made this dynamic and precious couple our partners. With them, we ensure a relay for the future. The team is completed with two technicians, Sylvain and Jean, and another member should be added by the end of the year. A different product (like the CosyRoad vehicle) requires a different approach. This is why we will remain small. Soon, we would like to reach a maximum of 12 vehicles per year, and this number will allow us to maintain a very personalized approach with our customers. We are lucky in Quebec, because we now have several companies that produce beautiful recreational vehicles, each more unique than the last, and which meet different types of needs. The important thing, and now more than ever, will be to encourage our local economy by purchasing a local product! This completes our look into the past. He now looks back to the future. A future that we hope is peaceful and happy for all. Good health everyone and good luck!
